JUNEAU - Sally Lesh will share stories of her 42 years in Gustavus and read from her book "Lunch at Toad River" at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 30, at the downtown public library.
Lesh and her husband, Jack, and their eight children left Falmouth, Mass., on Cape Cod, in 1960 and settled in Gustavus.
Lesh wrote: "At the time, more and more people were pouring into the Cape, chiefly in the summer. The locals were becoming more sophisticated and children of 12 were wearing tuxedos and strapless gowns to school dances. So, we decided to pull up stakes and go back to the great sweeps of wild country in the Northwest - or Alaska."
Books will be available for purchase and signing. For more information call librarian Carol Race at 586-0434.
