Juneau Freewheelers - Auke Rec Circuit Course: The Juneau Freewheres host the Auke Rec Circuit Course on Saturday at noon. Expert division is four laps (24 miles), sport division is two laps (12 miles). All abilities are welcome. Registration begins at 11 a.m. Cost is $15. Southeast Road Runners - Seacoast Relay Race: This five-person relay race features legs between 3.5 and 5.8 miles long between Mendenhall River School and the Eagle Beach Recreation Area. Road construction activities between Tee Harbor and Amalga Harbor will be postponed on race day. Race entry forms are available at the Nugget Alaskan Outfitter and both locations of the Alaska Club, as well as SERR's website at http://www.juneau.com/serr/. Race entry deadline is Thursday, May 26. A mandatory captain's meeting will be held on Friday, May 27, at 6 p.m. at the Valley Library conference room located in Mendenhall Mall. Carlos Boozer Basketball Camp registration - The Carlos Boozer Basketball Camp will take place at Juneau-Douglas High School from July 18 to July 22. The camp features both a boys and a girls session and will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day. It is available for boys and girls ages 7-to-15 and costs $265 for the weeklong camp. Classic Women's Outdoor Soccer - Registration for women's cclassic outdoor soccer has begun and will be ongoing throughout June. Registration forms may be picked up and dropped off at the Zach Gordon Youth Center or online at juneausoccer.com The season begins the first week of July and is open to women who are new to the game or experienced players who which to play in a non-competitive league. Capital City Men's and Women's Soccer League - Registration for the men's and women's outdoor season is currently in progress. Team registration for the women will be held at the downtown library on June 14 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The men's league draft will occur on June 21. Please drop off men's registration forms at the Zach Gordon Youth Center or mail them before on June 21 to CCSL, 1308 3rd St., Douglas, AK 99824. Seven-aside Coed Soccer Tournament - The 19th annual 7-aside competitive tournament for players 16-and-over will take place on June 4 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Forms may be picked up and dropped off at the Zach Gordon Youth Center. Yukon River Quest 2005 registration - The longest annual canoe and kayak race in the world is accepting applications for its 2005 race. The race takes place June 29 through July 3, and the 460-mile (740-kilometer) course follows the Yukon River from Whitehorse to Dawson City, Yukon Territory. The deadline for entries is May 26, 2005, and more information is available on the event's Web site at http://www.yukonriverquest.com. Last year 51 teams from around the world, including racers from Southeast Alaska, started the race and 35 teams finished. A limit of 70 teams has been set for 2005 and the race is open to tandem and solo kayaks and recreational tandem canoes and voyageur canoes (that seat 6-14 paddlers). Entry fees are $600 (Canadian) for tandem canoes and kayaks, $300 for solo kayaks and $200 per person for voyageur canoes. The total purse for the race is $15,500 (Canadian), which is distributed among the top 10 teams overall and to category winners. The first-place team receives $3,000 and an entry into the 2006 race. Zach Gordon Youth Center climbing wall - Climbing wall hours are 5-7 p.m. on Mondays, and 3:30-7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The climbing wall can be used by people of all ages. Climbers age 20-younger climb free, while adults 21-older pay $5 to use the wall. Youth-adult interaction is encouraged, so an adult climbing with a youth pays no fee. Evening masters swimming program - The Augustus Brown pool hosts a twice-weekly evening masters swimming program. The program will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is designed to promote and improve the physical and mental well-being of adults age 19-older. Treadwell Arena schedule - The Treadwell Arena will be running four half-day (8 a.m.-noon), week-long summer camps for youth ages 6-12. Available camps: Camp 1, Wacky Treadwell Olympics (June 20-24). Juneau Archery Club youth shooting - Archery shooting is held on Friday nights, with sessions at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Space is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Juneau Community Schools open gyms - Basketball, volleyball and soccer open gyms for adults are available several times a week. Basketball and volleyball open gyms are held Fridays and Sundays from 7-9 p.m. at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. Soccer open gyms are held Sundays from 6:45-8:45 p.m. at Floyd Dryden Middle School. Basketball/volleyball court rentals available - The Juneau Community Schools program has basketball/volleyball court rental times available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation Wednesday and Saturday hikes - For updates on locations of Wednesday and Saturday group hikes, call the Juneau Parks and Recreation Hikes Hotline. Always remember to bring plenty of food and water, wear warm layers of clothing and proper footwear for the hike. No dogs or firearms are allowed. Wednesday hikes are limited to hikers 18 years of age or older. Saturday hikes are open to families, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
