Dodgers go deep to nip the Padres in Junior Baseball action

A's top the Angels 3-1 in a pitcher's duel

Ryan Baldwin broke a 7-7 tie in the top of the seventh with a grand slam as the Dodgers held on to beat the Padres 11-9 in Gastineau Channel Little League Junior Baseball action last week.

It was the Padres' first defeat of the year.

JUNIOR BASEBALL

Padres 6, Diamondbacks 2

Lance Ibesate went 3-for-4 with a triple to lead the Padres.

Brenden Winters and Alex Campbell had two hits each in the win.

Ibesate yielded two runs in the first two innings while Christian Jacobsen pitched five shutout innings to close the game.

Eddie Hurtt led the Diamondbacks with a 2-for-3 effort.

MAJOR BASEBALL

A's 10, Braves 6

The A's rallied from a two-run deficit with six runs in the fifth to win the game.

Zach Miller, Jackson Lehnhart and Collin Ludeman had three hits each, Marc Heifetz drove in three runs off two hits and Tanner Petrie added a hit in the win.

Shamil Blaisdell hit a three-run triple in the fifth for the A's.

Ethan Seid also had an RBI in the win.

Cardinals 12, Phillies 2

Trey Williams allowed one run in the three innings to pick up the win for the Cards.

He also went 3-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored. Jack Grummett and Tod Baseden had three runs each while Kurt Vandor went 1-for-2 with a two-run double.

Jack Macauly had two RBIs and Nick Stewart drove in a run in the win.

For the Phillies, Torsten Fagerstrom hit a solo home run while Sean Niewoehner singled in Jabril Flores.

Braves 12, Cardinals 3

Brian Mielke fanned nine batters in five innings to lead the Braves to their first win of the season.

The Braves' Gary Speck hit a solo home run.

For the Cardinals, Dylan Johnson scored off Jack Grummett's double.

A's 3, Angels 1

Jackson Lehnhart struck out 10 batters in five innings and Tanner Petrie got the save as the A's nipped the Angels.

Patrick Millay and Phillip Fenumiai combined for eight strikeouts in the loss.

Marc Heifetz and Miller had RBIs in the win while Lehnhart scored a run.

Millay stole home to account for the Angels' lone run while Bridge Taylor and Chatham Miller added hits.
