National Volunteer Recognition Week wouldn't be complete without a celebration of the wonderful contributions of the Girl Scout leaders and other volunteers who make girl scouting possible in Southeast Alaska. With the help of 400 terrific women and men, the Tongass Alaska Girl Scout Council is able to serve more than 800 girls in 14 communities throughout Southeast. Their gifts of time, talent and creativity are what make girl scouting happen and keep it thriving.
Please take a moment now to thank the Girl Scout leaders in your town. They are making a big difference in the lives of girls by helping provide a fun, safe, and nurturing environment where new interests are discovered, friendships are formed, and self-esteem grows. These valued leaders are dedicated to helping girls develop into responsible, caring adults who give back to our community.
Please join me and the entire council Board of Directors in letting these volunteers know how much their efforts as leaders, mentors, and advisers are appreciated. They're the best.
For information on becoming a Girl Scout volunteer, please call the council office at 907-586-1710 or 800-478-8247.
