On behalf of the entire Glacier Valley Elementary School community, thank you, Juneau, for supporting our students' performances in Washington, D.C., where they performed Tides and the Tempest at the Kennedy Center and the National Museum of the American Indian at the Smithsonian this spring. During their stay in DC, our students toured the Smithsonian museums and visited many national monuments and memorials.
There is not enough room to list all of the donors who have contributed to this project, but we would like to acknowledge the donations of those businesses and individuals who gave $1,000 and above: Tammy Chappell, Parks and Recreation, Sealaska Heritage Institute, Taku 105 and KJNO, Alaskan & Proud market, Ben Williams, Alaska Humanities Forum, Cyndi's Cruise & Travel, Goldbelt Incorporated, Mt. Juneau Trading Post, Rotary Club of Juneau, Kyle Sage and Sealaska Corp. For a more complete listing, visit www.jsd.k12.ak.us/gv2/artIsElementary/artiselem/Tides.php.
We cannot put into words how meaningful this experience has been for our students, and we have you to thank for making it happen. Our Glacier Valley students are very proud to have represented Alaska as the Kennedy Center National School of Creative Ticket winner. It's an experience they will never forget.
