Today, I can face another day. It was hard making the final arrangements for my baby sister, Jackie, but with the support and prayers from all our friends and family, our family can take another step toward healing. I've always known that we lived in a caring city and a great Native community, but to actually go through the experience of all the love, prayers and support of the communities of Hoonah, Juneau, Angoon, Sitka, Haines, Klukwan, Anchorage and many others, has really helped us in our time of grief.
A very big thank you to the Glacier Valley Church of God, Wal-Mart, Capital Copy, the Alaskan Memorial Park and Mortuary. You did more than take care of business, you gave the extra time and showed compassion to our family in our time of sorrow. You are a great asset to this community. Our family greatly appreciates your help.
Again, thank you to all our friends and family. We will be having a thank-you dinner in memory of Darlene "Jackie" Lindoff Barril at 5 p.m. today at the Alaska Native Brotherhood Hall. We look forward to seeing you.
