Now being a fresh graduate from the University of Alaska Southeast here in Juneau, I want to ensure that all the staff and faculty at the university are appropriately thanked for a job well done. Over the last three years as I pursued and conquered my Bachelors of Business Administration degree in marketing, I have encountered several amazing faculty that have gone above and beyond their call of duty.
Rick Wolk, my adviser and marketing professor, has been extremely supportive and encouraging as well as has invited me and other students to functions around the community to get further engaged in the community. Karen Cummins, the purchaser for the School of Management, also deserves a great thanks for doing everything she could to help our business club (Students in Free Enterprise) get our needed funding in as short as few hours. The humor that she and numerous professors at the university had truly added to the enjoyment of my educational experience.
I also want to thank the teachers for being so accessible. With small class sizes, every student had the opportunity to talk with the professor on a daily basis. Not to mention, the majority of the teachers came right out of our community and surrounding communities to teach, so they have the experience and knowledge necessary to truly be beneficial to students. One professor in particular, Ron Hulstein (accounting and fly fishing professor) even invited students to his house for Thanksgiving day if they did not have a place to go. This is definitely going beyond his duty as a teacher at UAS.
Also, thanks to Karen Schmitt (our great School of Management dean), Valentina Jimmerson (who helped me in amazing ways to secure the final three credits I needed to graduate), Steve Hamilton (an amazing, responsive, and knowledgeable business professor), as well as all other faculty and staff at the University of Alaska Southeast. Thank you!
As I continue on this fall to explore more of the world and get my master's degree, I want it known that I am very proud to be a University of Alaska Southeast alumni!
