Thank you, track meet volunteers

Posted: Sunday, May 23, 2010

The 33rd annual Hershey's Track and Field Meet was held on Sunday, May 2, 2010, at Thunder Mountain High School where 38 of Juneau's youth ages 9-14 participated in 30 different running events, the standing long jump and softball throw.

As everyone knows, such an event cannot take place without the gracious help of volunteers. This year's meet was extremely successful largely due to the much-appreciated voluntary assistance.

We wish to express our thanks to the TMHS track-and-field team head coach, Scott May, for his invaluable knowledge, experience and enthusiasm in seeing to it that everything literally ran as smoothly as planned. Our gratitude is also extended to these TMHS track and field team athletes who also proficiently aided with various event supervision duties throughout the afternoon: Renier Cava, Chaleb Chalndra, Rhyan Holmes, Ethan Kramp, Tyrel Kramp, Skyler Nakachi, Jed Salazar, James Steeves, Donald Stokes, Wilson Suzuki, Sydney Thorne and Hugh Watts. Finally we'd like to thank the TMHS athletic director, Rhonda Hickok, for allowing us to use her school's excellent new track facility and football field when we experienced a scheduling conflict that prevented us from conducting the meet at Adair-Kennedy Park as originally intended. Thank you one and all for your generous spirit!
