JUNEAU - The first annual Alaska Public Gardens Day will be held Saturday at the Jensen-Olson Arboretum.
The arboretum, Parks and Recreation and the Alaska Botanical Garden in Anchorage and UAF's Georgeson Botanical Garden in Fairbanks will be commemorating APGD to raise awareness of Alaska's public gardens and the role they play in promoting environmental stewardship, education, plant conservation, recreation and research. Activities at the Arboretum include the dedication of the new Point Caroline trail, a historical-interest tour, and unique plants tour.
Bring a picnic lunch and experience Caroline Jensen's gift to the people of Juneau. The Arboretum is a virtual living laboratory of more than 250 plant species and cultivars situated on the garden's magnificent 17 acres.
For more information contact Merrill Jensen, arboretum manager, at 789-0139.
