History did not begin in Europe

Maureen Crosby's My Turn on ``The Importance of Teaching World History,'' with which I thoroughly agree, brought to mind Mahatma Ghandi's response when he was asked what he thought of Western civilization. He said, ``I think it's a wonderful idea.''

As Mrs. Crosby noted, the school board takes another look at the proposed social studies curriculum on Tuesday, June 6.
