Driving while intoxicated:
Eldon Balzer, 47, was arrested about 1 a.m. today near Egan Drive for drunken driving, driving with a blood-alcohol level over 0.10 percent and two counts of reckless endangerment. He was taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and released.
Vehicles driven by a girl, 16, and a woman, 46, were involved in an accident causing minor damage about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday near 12th and Irwin streets.
A woman, 22, was cited for failure to maintain a safe distance after an accident with a vehicle driven by a man, 58, about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday on Seward Street. Combined damage was $2,500.
A man, 20, was arrested about 2 p.m. Wednesday near Glacier Highway on a Juneau troopers warrant charging second-degree sexual abuse of a minor. He was lodged at state prison.
A man, 32, was arrested about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday near Gull Way on an outstanding Juneau troopers warrant for failure to appear at a court hearing, pay a fine and comply with probation conditions. He was lodged at state prison.
A man, 42, was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday downtown on an outstanding Juneau police warrant for failure to appear at a summons hearing. He was lodged at state prison.
Capital City Fire & Rescue responded to a fire alarm at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sandy Beach. They found a fire in a garbage can in one of the picnic shelters. The fire had spread up a wall of the shelter. Vandals are suspected to have set the fire, but there are no suspects, said Capt. Lynn Ridle. The fire inspector has not yet had time to release an estimate of damage.
