Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Hit-and-run incidents:

A man reported at 7:28 p.m. Thursday from Fourth Street that a white 1999 Plymouth Voyager backed into the driver's door of his red 1999 Chevy Suburban and left the scene. The driver, a man, 61, later was contacted by police and insurance information was exchanged.

Animal encounters:

A woman reported a bear at 2:05 p.m. Thursday near Kanat'a Street.

A resident reported at 10:50 p.m. Thursday near Lawson Creek Road in Douglas a sow and a cub eating garbage in the area. Neither of the bears was aggressive.

A Juneau resident reported at 9:03 p.m. Thursday near Thane Road that a bear was pawing at the window of a residence. The bear left while the resident was on the phone with police.
