President George W. Bush's speech to Coast Guard Academy graduates reminded me of an arsonist I prosecuted some 40 years ago.
Sound off on the important issues at
Just as the arsonist liked to start fires so he could get a job putting them out, Bush justifies our continued presence in Iraq by invoking 2005 intelligence that al-Qaida was directed by bin Laden to use Iraq as a staging ground for attacks on the United States.
Of course, Bush failed to mention that it was the ill-conceived and poorly planned invasion of Iraq in 2003 by Bush and his gang of incompetents that made it possible for Iraq to be used as a terrorist recruiting and training resource. Sorry, George, our memories are too good for your tactics.
