The Juneau Watershed Partnership would like to thank the community for participating in the 2009 Juneau clean-up day on May 2. Preliminary reports say that hundreds of volunteers collected more than 30,000 pounds of trash and recyclables. Thanks, Juneau, for working hard to keep our community clean and litter free.
Our thanks go to all the members of Litter Free Inc. and Capital Disposal for all of their hard work organizing this huge event. We would also like to thank Juneau Friends of Recycling for separating all the recyclables during the event and thanks to all of our volunteer haulers for picking up bags that day.
Thank you so much, Goldbelt Corp., for donating tram passes to our volunteers and thanks to McDonald's for donating gift certificates and supplies for the event. Thanks to Thane Ore House, Nugget Alaskan Outfitter and the Alaskan Hotel for donating door prizes for our volunteer hauler raffle.
Many thanks to Wal-Mart, Costco, Don Abel's, R&S Pumping, Northern Sales, Odom/Coca Cola, and the Pepsi-Cola Company for donating food and materials for our community barbecue. A special thanks to Duck Creek Market for donating their space, hot dogs and their time year after year for this event. We would also like to thank the Coastal CODE Foundation for sponsoring our participation at the clean-up.
Thank you all for joining together to help maintain our watersheds and keep Juneau the kind of place we want to play, work and raise our families in. Stay tuned for more clean-up events this summer and we hope to see you for International Coastal Clean-Up Day on Sept. 19.
