FAIRBANKS - An 18-year-old Wasilla driver killed with her passenger in a three-vehicle wreck near Fairbanks had been pulled over by Alaska State Troopers two hours earlier near Nenana.

Alecia L. Phillips and 21-year-old Timothy Clayton of Fort Wainwright died Friday night on the Parks Highway west of Fairbanks.

Alaska State Troopers say Phillips passed and struck another car, then veered into the path of a southbound semi tractor-trailer.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports Phillips had been cited for multiple traffic violations outside Nenana, including operating a vehicle in violation of her instruction permit. The car was released to a licensed driver.

The driver of the truck was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
