JUNEAU - Attorney General Dan Sullivan says he's been making calls, hoping to boost turnout at a pro bono summit in Anchorage.
Today's event is aimed at raising awareness of the need for attorneys to voluntarily provide legal assistance to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Sullivan said improving victims' access to legal assistance is an important part of the governor's plan to crack down on the violence. An official with the Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault has said there's a huge unmet need and 50 to 100 more attorneys would help.
Sullivan hopes those willing to take even a few hours will see the value in it and commit to more.
He said he also hopes to take a case.
