Southeast Road Runners -- SeaCoast Relay: The race is a five-stage relay from Mendenhall River School to Eagle Beach Recreational Area, starting at 9 a.m. or 10 a.m. depending on the division. Entry forms need to be received by Wednesday night, May 23. Registration for the relay is also open and entry forms can be picked up at both locations of the Juneau Racquet Club. Runners from the first 25 teams to register receive embossed Cool-Max running t-shirts. Volunteers are also needed. Info: Sue Scott, 789-9190.

Juneau Freewheelers Bicycle Club -- Dredge Lake mountain bike race: Meet at 9:15 a.m. at Dredge Lake accessed at the end of Dredge Lake Road, for a 10 a.m. race start. Course ride begins at 9:45 for the two- and six-lap courses. Info: Dennis Travis, 789-7564.

Juneau Archery Club -- Sixth Annual Alaska Bowhunters Association 3-D Shoot: Montana Creek range opens at 9 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Archers will shoot three rounds of targets over the two-day meet. Entry fees are $10 adults, $3 students and $25 families. Info: Marv Walter, 789-0942.

Juneau Sailing Club -- Rum Cup Challenge: The first round of this four-round event starts at 10:30 a.m. from Mayflower Island, near Douglas Harbor. All captains must attend an 8 a.m. meeting in the Aurora Harbormasters Office. Saturday's race will be from Mayflower Island to Taku Harbor, with Monday's return trip being from near Graves Point back to Juneau. Juneau Alpine Club -- Hawthorne Peak Climb: This is an 11-mile, high-energy output level event lasting about 12 hours. Bring an ice ax and crampons. Info: Trip leader Dave Lefebvre, 789-4099.

Kluane-Chilkat International Bicycle Relay packets available -- Entry packets for the Ninth Annual Kluane to Chilkat International Bicycle Relay will be available in Juneau at Mountain Gears, Foggy Mountain Shop and the valley Juneau Racquet Club. The 156-mile relay is held on Saturday, June 16. It starts in Haines Junction, Yukon Territory, and ends in Haines, Alaska, and is for teams of one, two, four and eight riders. Application forms are also available on the Internet at The entry fee is $34 per rider, which includes a t-shirt, post-race dinner and awards breakfast. Juneau Racquet Club nutrition and running workshop -- Meet from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, at the Valley location of Juneau Racquet Club. Nutritionist John Wray will lead the workshop. Info: Caro Rosier-Polley, 789-2181.

Juneau Wrestling Camp -- This camp will take place June 11-15 at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School and will cover all three basic wrestling styles -- folkstyle, freestyle and Greco-Roman. Guest clinicians are former Team USA members Les Gutches and Randy Couture. The camp costs $220 if deposit received after May 18. Team discounts available. Youth Outdoor Soccer -- Juneau Parks and Recreation is currently seeking volunteer coaches for the 2001 Youth Outdoor Soccer Season. Persons knowledgeable in the game of soccer and who enjoy working with youth are encouraged to apply. Volunteer applications and background check information can be obtained by contacting the Program Supervisor, Myiia Whistler. The season runs July 7 through September 15. Coaches are currently being sought in the 12-13 year old co-ed division. Teams receive 2 pre-season practices, once a week practices and Saturday games. Training is available. Open Gyms/Scrimmages/Ongoing

4-H youth running program Thursday runs -- Meet at 5 p.m. at location TBA each Thursday through the summer. The program is for runners in grades K-5. Meet at Riverbend covered play area on May 31, at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park track on June 7, at Perseverance Trail Head on June 14, at Sandy Beach picnic area on June 21, at Rotary Park on June 28 and at Cope Park on July 5. Adult open soccer scrimmages -- Open scrimmages for adults age 18 and older are being held from 5-7 p.m. every Sunday through June 24 at the Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park football field. Beginning on Sunday, May 20, the field will be open for women's scrimmages from 7-9 p.m. Scrimmages will also occur from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesdays starting May 29 through the end of Juneau at the Dimond Park soccer field. Over-35 coed competitive soccer scrimmages -- Competitive scrimmages for adults age 35-older will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, at the Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park football field. The scrimmages will also take place from 7-9 p.m. every Wednesday in June at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park. There is a $15 registration fee and waiver required that will be collected at the field. Open roller hockey scrimmages -- Regular open roller hockey scrimmages for high-school age players and adults this summer are from 8-10 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday night at the Glacier Valley Elementary School's outdoor covered area.
