JUNEAU — A man found unconscious lying in the middle of a downtown street Monday night has died.
Duane Weedman, 34, was found around 8:09 p.m. on Behrends Avenue near Ross Way, where first responders attempted to resuscitate him. He was then taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A resident who spotted Weedman called police dispatch, and said he suspected Weedman was hit by a car. Authorities said Weedman’s body was sent to Anchorage for an autopsy, but there was “no obvious signs” of a hit and run. No witnesses reported seeing a car involved.
Hospital staff would not disclose information about Weedman’s condition when he was brought in.
The Juneau Police Department canvassed the area where Weedman was found but discovered nothing of significance.
Weedman worked for the state of Alaska as an analyst and website developer since 2003.
