Pedestrian injured stepping into moving construction truck

JUNEAU — A pedestrian crossing the street near Merchants Wharf Tuesday afternoon stepped off the curb and into the side of a large “dump truck-like vehicle” passing by, according to police.

The incident happened about 11:48 a.m. on Marine Way, where the vehicle was heading south. The pedestrian, whose identity was withheld by police, suffered non-life threatening injuries after being knocked to the ground.

The person was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment. An investigation is ongoing.
