ANCHORAGE - State environmental regulators say a fertilizer spill near the Kenai River appears to have had minimal effect on the environment.
Officials said no dead fish were spotted during a two-hour inspection of the site Saturday.
Leslie Pearson of the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation said inspectors will conduct a couple more site visits and take some more water samples to see if there are any changes.
Officials said a tractor trailer spilled 48,300 pounds of urea and an unknown amount of diesel fuel Friday morning when the rig overturned on the Sterling Highway and rolled into a slough near Cooper Landing.
