KENAI - Residents in the Kenai Peninsula Borough would get a break on their property taxes next year if a proposed cut in the mill rate wins approval.
The proposal by borough Mayor John Williams calls for cutting the 2008 boroughwide tax rate from 5.5 mills to 4.75 mills.
Last year there was a 1-mill reduction.
Taxpayers would save $75 a year on each $100,000 of taxable assessed property value under the proposed rate.
The proposal is up for a public hearing June 3.
