Columbia deserved recognition for help

Letter to the editor

Posted: Monday, May 28, 2007

I was pleased to see the letter by Roy W. King (Wednesday's Empire) regarding the part the Alaska Marine Highway System's Columbia played in the rescue of the Empress of the North's passengers and crew.

Sound off on the important issues at

Ferries are so much a part of our lives here in Alaska, especially in Southeast, that they are often overlooked when we single out organizations for recognition; yet they are often deserving of it.

Thank you, Mr. King.
