Longtime Juneau resident George "Doc" Marks died May 24, 2008, after a three-year battle with lung cancer. He was 80.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June Marks, also formerly of Juneau.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters in New Jersey; daughter, Donna Hurley and husband, Bob; grandson, Bill Razpotnik and wife, Effie; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Tanya Lerum, Kaitlayn Anderson, Jerrica Razpotnik, all of Juneau; extended family members, his grandchildren, Rob Hurley and wife, Lily, of Washington, D.C., Seanna Kringen and husband, Steve, of Aptos, Calif., and great-grandchildren, Chevelle Hogan and Bryan, Leci and Brandyn Kringen; and nephew, Gene Keene and wife, Gloria, formerly of Juneau.
Per his request, there will be no formal services, but a gathering of friends and family will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at the Juneau Moose Lodge. The family may be contacted at 2970 Douglas Highway, Juneau, AK 99801.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the Mendenhall Flying Lions, P.O. Box 32863, Juneau, AK 99803-2863, for work with Ronald McDonald House, the American Diabetes Association and local sight projects.
