Posted: Friday, May 28, 2010

FAIRBANKS - Alaska State Troopers say an 11-year-old Fairbanks boy was mauled by a pit bull while riding his bike.

The boy sustained multiple puncture wounds in Tuesday's attack, and is recovering at an Anchorage hospital.

Trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters says the pit bull attacked a patrol car when troopers responded. A trooper then shot and killed the dog.

The identity of the dog's owner has not been released.
