ANCHORAGE - Voters in Nome have recalled two of the five school board members.
The Anchorage Daily News reports the vote count from Tuesday's election ousted school board members Heather Payenna and Albert McComas.
The remaining members, Barb Nickels, Kirsten Timbers and board President Gloria Karmun, will select replacements who will likely serve until the next municipal election in October.
The recall campaign was launched by people unhappy with the firing of the principal and assistant principal at the junior-senior high school in Nome.
Nearly 1,000 people voted in the northwest Alaska city of 3,500.
