ANCHORAGE - Police in Anchorage say a man robbed a bank Thursday and escaped on a bicycle but was arrested five minutes later and turned over to the FBI.
Police identified the suspect as 45-year-old Christopher Todd Mayer of Anchorage.
Police took a call at 1:15 p.m. from a customer who witnessed a man ordering a teller to hand over money. The teller stuffed money into the man's backpack.
A second witness told a police dispatcher the man was wearing a camouflage bandanna and that he rode off on a bike.
Police Officer Aaron Roberts responded in his squad car, spotted a biker wearing a camouflaged bandanna around his neck, and when he wouldn't stop, drove his patrol car in front of the bike.
The biker hit the car, slid over the hood and took off running but was caught a half block away.
