Police and Fire

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Assaults:

• Police arrested a man, 36, for domestic violence assault at 1:47 a.m. Wednesday in the Salmon Creek area. The man was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center. Police said alcohol was a factor.

Thefts:

• A gold coin, valued at about $200, was reported stolen at 5:41 p.m. Tuesday near Seater Street.

• A drop safe was reported stolen at 8:41 p.m. Tuesday near Bentwood Place. The safe contained an undisclosed amount of change and tokens.

• A Jansport backpack containing miscellaneous CDs, books and school work was reported stolen at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday near Portage Boulevard.

Vandalism and criminal mischief:

• A skiff was reported vandalized and partially sunk at 9:43 a.m. Tuesday near Savikko Road.

Vehicle accidents:

• No one was injured, but two vehicles were totaled as a result of a two-vehicle accident at 4:48 p.m. Tuesday near Egan Drive and Highland Drive. A 1988 Volkswagen, driven by a man, 43, was struck by a 1995 Subaru, driven by a man, 22. The 43-year-old man was cited for failure to yield on a left turn.

Animal encounters:

• A bear was reported at 12:10 a.m. Wednesday near Delta Drive.

Alcohol-related calls: 1.
