Search continues for Japanese climbers

Posted: Thursday, May 29, 2008

ANCHORAGE - The National Park Service said a window of good weather allowed the search to continue for two missing Japanese climbers on Mount McKinley.

Tatsuro Yamada, 27, of Saitama-Ken, Japan, and Yuto Inoue, 24, of Tokyo, have been missing for nearly one week.

Rangers are reviewing photos taken by aerial searchers for clues to the climbers' location and plan to hone in on the most promising areas.

They found a probable former tent site at 17,000-feet on the Cassin Ridge and tracks on the route at approximately 16,000 feet.
