Juneau-Douglas High School senior Joe Kohan pitches during practice on April 30 at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Field. Kohan was named the Gatorade Alaska Baseball Player of the Year on Wednesday. The 6-foot, 185-pound senior right-hander is 4-0 with a 1.47 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 21.1 innings this season, leading the Crimson Bears to a 12-5 record. Kohan, who also plays shortstop, is hitting .537 with four home runs and 15 RBIs. He is the returning Southeast Conference player of the year.
