ANCHORAGE - Two high-profile Anchorage Democrats are signaling interest in a possible run for Alaska governor next year.

Both Ethan Berkowitz, a former House minority leader, and state Sen. Hollis French told the Anchorage Daily News on Thursday they are considering running.

Incumbent Gov. Sarah Palin, a Republican, has not said whether she will seek re-election in 2010.

Berkowitz says he's taking a close look at running, and French says he's seriously considering it.

French oversaw the legislative investigation last fall into Troopergate, which probed Palin's firing of her public safety commissioner.

Democrats Bob Poe and Robert Rosenfeld already have announced they are running.
