With two new teammates along for the ride, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse claimed a second straight overall title in Saturday's Sea Coast Relay.
"Old" Horsemen Shawn Miller and George Johnson teamed up with new members Tristan Knutson-Lombardo and Dave Pusich to win the 14th annual relay - a five-stage race of about 22 miles that started at Mendenhall River Community School and ended out Glacier Highway at Eagle Beach Picnic Area.
The Four Horsemen - with Miller running the last two legs - covered the course in 2 hours, 1 minute, 59 seconds. Knutson-Lombardo, a Juneau-Douglas High School junior, won the title in the boys' 1,600-meter race at the state high school track and field meet earlier this month.
A mix of present and recently graduated JDHS runners - Gabe Hayden, Greg Frank, Wesley Dinnan and Tyler Dinnan - took second place overall in 2:13:19 as Sub 5. Jerry's Meats - Jim Douglas, Andrew Grossman, Jerry Buckley, Brian Goettler and Jon Pollard - was third in 2:18:54. It Takes Two - the two-member team of Lachelle Crotteau and Layne Brant - took fourth overall in 2:19:22.
The top all-women's team was the Emily Ferry Squad - Deborah Rudis, Sarah Lamagie, Becky Jans, Susie Burger and Emily Ferry - which finished in 2:41:03.
Complete team results can be found on the Scoreboard on Page B2.
This year's race was run under mostly cloudy skies with occasional light rain showers - a marked change from last year, when the event - run in the opposite direction - was plagued with heavy rain.
