The Juneau-Douglas High School softball team will defend its state title as a four-seed.
The Alaska School Activities Association released the seeds Sunday.
The Crimson Bears (15-0) dominated play in the Southeast Conference en route to earning a spot in the tournament. JDHS opens defense of its state championship on Friday at 8:30 a.m. against fifth-seeded South Anchorage.
JDHS scored 152 runs this season, averaging just a shade more than 10 runs per game while allowing just 22 runs all year.
Juneau played all of its games in the Southeast Conference.
Undefeated Chugiak earned the first seed with Lathrop claiming the second seed.
Bartlett was seeded third, Service sixth, Wasilla seventh and Palmer was seeded eighth.
The large school tournament is double-elimination with a team needing up to five wins in two days to claim the title.
Last year, the Bears fought back from the loser's bracket to win the championship.
Juneau's Southeast rival, Sitka, took the third seed in the small school tournament.
Homer was seeded first, Monroe Catholic second, Eielson fourth and Kodiak fifth. The Wolves face Eielson Friday at 10:30 a.m.
All games take place at Hez Ray Field in Fairbanks.
