Glacier Swim Club has completed its annual Aqualaps fundraiser. GSC was started in 1973 and Aqulaps is a long-standing Club tradition as its biggest fundraiser.
Thanks to the Juneau community, the swimmers raised $76,400. On May 2, 116 swimmers swam approximately 229 miles. We are very proud of our swimmers for their commitment and hard work in achieving our budgeted goal for this year's fundraiser. GSC could not have done this without your support. Many of you were gracious and generous to our swimmers seeking pledges at Fred Meyer, The Wharf and Alaskan and Proud, as well as greeting those going door to door. Thank you for taking your time to engage with the swimmers and offer your pledges of support.
New this year, GSC pledged 5 minutes of litter clean-up per pledge collected. Swimmers collected 1,995 pledges. On May 7th, the team cleaned up litter around the Augustus Brown Swimming Pool fulfilling this commitment.
The Glacier Swim Club is a nonprofit organization offering a year-round swimming program for boys and girls ages 6-18. The participants learn correct swimming techniques, gain physical endurance and develop team spirit and sportsmanship. The swimmers travel throughout Southeast Alaska and the Interior representing Juneau in age-group competition. It is your support that allows us to continue.
Thank you so much, Juneau. We appreciate your generosity and support.
