AWARE would like to extend gratitude and appreciation for outstanding support from the Juneau community in making the Waterfront AWAREness Race on April 17 a big success! A record 75 runners, walkers, and volunteers made this year's race a success. The Waterfront Race is an invigorating and healthy way to show support in recognizing April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
Thanks to all the runners and volunteers who supported the event, to Paul DeSloover with Southeast Road Runners for undertaking the logistical preparation, and to the volunteers who set up, cleaned up, heliumed balloons, registered runners, handed out t-shirts, etc. A big thank you also to Super Bear Supermarket for generously donating bottled water and fruit, to Alaskan & Proud for donating gift certificates for race supplies, and to Heritage Coffee for providing hot coffee on a blowy, rainy race day.
It is important and reassuring for survivors of sexual assault to know our community supports their recovery efforts and their living a life free from violence and fear. Thank you for supporting AWARE in raising sexual assault awareness and making women and children's safety a priority for our community.
