Sober grad party
Safe Graduation 2005, a party for Juneau-Douglas High School seniors, will be held Sunday, June 5, from 9 p.m. to 2:05 a.m. at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School.
There will be a casino, salsa dancing, karaoke, games, prizes and food. Photo identification required. No admittance after 10:30. Guests ages 15 through 20 are welcome but must pay $10. Seniors are free, but donations are welcome.
The Juneau-Douglas High School class of 2005 Baccalaureate program will be at 7 p.m., June 2, in the high school auditorium.
The event is an inspirational non-denominational program for the graduating class and the Juneau community.
Seniors should bring their cap and gown and meet at 6:30 p.m., in the auxiliary gym. Families are asked to bring a plate of cookies or fruit for the reception following.
Juneau Symphony's annual Youth Concerto Competition will be at 3 p.m., June 4, at UAS Egan Lecture Hall.
Participants in junior and senior instrumental categories play concerto movements before an audience that includes judges.
The event is free and open to the public, and features thirteen music students from Juneau and Sitka.
