I am in a real quandary when considering how to vote on the school bonds on June 12. I believe the bonds will provide improvements to the new school and would like to vote for them.

Nevertheless, my property taxes are already 23 percent of my retirement check. Knowing that the taxes will only continue to rise, I cannot vote in favor of this bond issue, nor will I be voting in favor of any other bond issues until there is significant relief from property taxes.
Perhaps it is time to consider a constitutional amendment regarding property taxes similar to California's Proposition 13 which "converted the existing market value-based property tax system to an acquisition value-based system."
