Program description: The Juneau Urban Forestry Partnership is a volunteer-led nonprofit organization that seeks opportunities with other organizations and groups to plant trees in Juneau. The JUFP hosts tree planting and maintenance events throughout Juneau to enhance the community and improve our quality of life. The JUFP has a volunteer base of 125 members who assist in tree planting and care projects. The JUFP also provides tree education programs. New volunteers are always welcome to our events to learn about trees and make a lasting contribution to our community.

Volunteer positions available: Juneau's annual Arbor Day celebration will be held in Douglas at the Treadwell Arena at Savikko Park. This is an opportunity to learn how to plant trees while making improvements to our community. This year's event will be the creation of a birch grove at the front of the arena. Come out and celebrate Arbor Day and help plant trees. No experience is required, only the desire to learn how to plant trees or improve our community. This event will be led by tree experts to provide hands on training.

• Neighbors Helping Neighbors is a weekly feature on the Neighbors page and is in collaboration with the United Way of Southeast Alaska. More volunteer opportunities can be found online at the Volunteer Center of Southeast Alaska, www.unitedwayseak.org.
