Juneau resident Darlene Martha Higgins died May 30, 2007, in her home.

Born on Aug. 21, 1945, in Longview, Wash., she was a retired homemaker. She attended Kelso High School in Kelso, Wash.
She enjoyed watching the cruise ships and loved working at her desk making cards and bookmarks, said family members. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family, numerous friends and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ovelen "Bud" Higgins; and father, Raymond Slavens.
She is survived by her mother, Vivian Slavens, of Phoenix; children, Todd Higgins, of Nampa, Idaho, Carmen Frawley, of Juneau, Janel Higgins, of Kelso, Wash., and Chad Higgins, of Vancouver, Wash.; grandchildren, Caleb and Bethany Frawley, Justin, Kelsey and Julia Higgins, Jordyn Higgins and Clayton Baskett, and Emily, Maggie Higgins; sisters, Sandra Hamon, of Phoenix, and Rhetta Kent, of Yakima, Wash.; and numerous friends, including special best friend, Jeanne Berglund.
Services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 4, at the Alaskan Memorial Park and Mortuary.
