McGrath-area fire stalled due to weather

McGRATH - Wet weather has kept a fire burning near McGrath at a standstill.

The so-called Broken Snowshoe Fire continues to burn about 3.5 miles from the town, but remained Sunday at 25,575 acres.

Fire information officer Tracy Skinner said 295 people are assigned to the fire. She said the wet weather has allowed firefighters to build fire containment lines.

The winds are coming from the south and blowing the flames away from the town.

Skinner said the fire is 16 percent contained on its southern edge.
