FAIRBANKS - Voters in the Fairbanks area will decide the fate of a $12 million bond package to fund school improvements.
The Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly approved sending the question to voters in the October election.
If approved, the bonds would pay for construction work at two high schools and three elementary schools.
Among projects to be funded if the bonds are approved are upgrades at Salcha Elementary School's playground to meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.
Other projects would include lighting and energy-efficiency upgrades at Weller Elementary and North Pole High schools; maintenance work at Lathrop High School, and replacing and repairing siding, doors and windows at Badger Road Elementary.
