FAIRBANKS - Fairbanks International Airport police have arrested a 31-year-old man they say was carrying nearly a half ounce of methamphetamine.

James P. Capertino was charged with felony drug misconduct, felony driving under the influence and misdemeanor traffic offenses.

Airport police said an officer spotted Capertino driving a motorcycle at nearly 90 mph at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday on the Mitchell Expressway.

The officer searched Capertino and said he found methamphetamine in three different bags. A half ounce of meth has a street value of about $2,000 in Fairbanks, according to investigators.

Police also said Capertino was carrying $3,800. Capertino said the cash was from selling a snowmobile.

Capertino was convicted of driving under the influence in 2001 and 2002.
