ANCHORAGE - A resident of an Anchorage suburb killed a grizzly bear after it charged the man's wife.
Anchorage police say the grizzly charged toward Marianna Hamilton as she walked her dog outside the family's Eagle River home.
Lt. Dave Parker says the bear came within a few feet of the woman, who called out to her husband, Michael Weiman.
According to Parker, Weiman fired a pistol into the ground to scare the bear away in the Sunday night encounter.
The animal went into some woods near the couple's home, but then returned. Parker says that's when Weiman killed it.
