Driving while intoxicated:

About 1:15 p.m. Thursday, police responded to Egan Drive and arrested Harold Burdett, 49, for drunken driving and for refusal to take a breath test. Burdett was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center. His pickup was impounded.

Thefts, lost/found items:

Shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday, a man, 45, brought to the police station a ring he found in the Gastineau Channel area.

About 9:30 p.m. Thursday, an intoxicated man, 33, was arrested at Juneau Recovery Hospital on charges of first-degree burglary and second- and third-degree theft. He was lodged at state prison.

Assault:

About 2:45 a.m. today, a woman, 36, was arrested for domestic violence assault in the Lemon Creek area. She was lodged at state prison.

Vehicle accidents:

About 11 a.m. Thursday, police issued a boy, 17, a citation for driving without a valid license. Police had responded when an accident was reported on Valley Boulevard. The vehicle was impounded.

Shortly before noon Thursday, police responded to a traffic accident on Egan Drive outbound at Salmon Creek. The accident involved a 2000 Ford Focus and a 1995 Honda Civic. The driver of the Focus, a girl, 17, was cited for careless driving. The Focus sustained about $5,000 damage. The driver of the Civic was a woman, 32; her vehicle had about $2,000 damage.

About 2:30 p.m. Thursday, police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Egan Drive near its intersection with Riverside Drive. Two vehicles were involved, a 1990 Toyota pickup driven by a woman, 52, and a 1991 Dodge Caravan driven by a girl, 17. There were no injuries.

Warrant arrests:

Shortly before noon Thursday, police arrested a man, 23, at Juneau Trial Court on a Juneau Alaska State Troopers warrant. The man was lodged at state prison on $1,000 cash bail.

Trespassing:

Just before 2 a.m. today, an intoxicated woman, 36, was placed under citizen's arrest in Douglas for trespassing. The arrest was made by a man, 48, who phoned in a disturbance call. The suspect was lodged at state prison on $250 bail.

Other:

The 36-year-old man found dead in the parking lot of Cope Park about 6 a.m. Thursday was Christopher Wilson Schauer of Evanston, Ill., according to police. Schauer arrived in Juneau early Thursday on an Alaska Marine Highway ferry. He recently left Montana and also traveled through Canada. Schauer had a history of mental illness, police said.

The cause of death was an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Foul play is not suspected, police said. However, the police have requested an autopsy from the state medical examiner's office in Anchorage.

An ambulance from Capital City Fire & Rescue assisted the Coast Guard early this morning. The Coast Guard medevaced a patient from Haines to Juneau. The patient, Elizabeth McVie, 71, was a passenger aboard the cruise ship Norwegian Wind about 10 p.m. Thursday in Haines when she began having stroke symptoms, a Coast Guard spokesman said. An ambulance transported McVie to Bartlett Regional Hospital, firefighters said. Today, McVie is in Bartlett's critical care unit in stable condition with good vital signs, a spokesperson said.

Shortly after midnight Thursday, police arrested a man, 49, at the Imperial Bar. The intoxicated man had been causing a disturbance. He was arrested for resisting arrest and lodged at state prison.

About 11:30 a.m. Thursday, a woman, 24, was cited on Village Street for driving without complying with restrictions on her license. She was released at the scene.
