A warrior's effects

Posted: Wednesday, June 02, 2004

A 200-year-old Raven helmet, worn by Tlingit leader Katlian in a battle against Russians in 1804, is carried last week from the Sheldon Jackson Museum in Sitka. The helmet and a blacksmith's hammer, also used by Katlian in the battle, were carried to the National Historical Park, site of the 1804 battle, where they will be on display until November. Special insurance was purchased for the transfer. Pictured are, from left, Ben Didrickson, George Bennett, John Duncan, Herman Davis, George Jackson and Ray Wilson.
