QuickBooks Pro training course to be held in town

JUNEAU - QuickBooks Pro training will be available in Juneau for businesses, non-profits and independent bookkeepers to gain expertise to maintain financial accounts with Intuit's bookkeeping software.

The course will be held 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 17-18 at Data Bank Computer Services, 5165 Glacier Highway, next to Western Auto.

The cost of the course is $295, including the text book, and limited to 12 people.

The accounting firm Elgee Rehfeld & Mertz will provide will provide Teresa Schimanski, a certified QuickBooks instructor, to teach the course.

The course will begin with accounting basics and include setting up a sample company, working with accounts, creating checks for operations and payroll, accounts receivable and payable, inventory and purchasing, bank reconciliation, paying sales tax, generating financial statements and other important features.

The event sponsor is Juneau SBDC, a partnership program of the University of Alaska that is partially funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Access to SBDC programs is available to individuals with disabilities by request and prior arrangement.

Era adds new booking capabilities

JUNEAU - Era Aviation has added hotel and rental car booking capabilities for South central Alaska and other areas to its Web site, Through affiliate, Era customers can shop and book destination city amenities while booking flights on Era's Web site.

Era Aviation also serves Cordova, Homer, Kenai, Kodiak and Valdez, along with 17 villages in Western Alaska from Bethel.
