FAIRBANKS - A section of the Alaska Highway will be designated as the Purple Heart Trail this weekend in Delta Junction.
Purple Heart recipients will join local and state officials Saturday for the dedication of the trail, the stretch of highway from Fairbanks to the Canadian border, at the visitor center in Delta Junction.
State officials said the trail is a symbolic and honorary system of roads, highways, bridges and other monuments paying tribute to Purple Heart recipients.
