JUNEAU - Goldbelt Inc. held its 36th annual meeting of shareholders Tuesday at the Juneau Tlingit and Haida Community Council Building.
More than 1,800 shareholders were represented by proxy and about 250 were present in person. They listened to presentations about business enterprises of the corporation, including one regarding the activities and programs of the Goldbelt Heritage Institute.
A moment of remembrance was held in honor of Memorial Day. It was noted that President and CEO Gary Droubay received the Silver Star for Valor in Vietnam while serving as an infantry officer.
Shareholders also conducted the annual elections, electing Kathy Polk to a three-year term to replace Edith McHenry. Trudy Skan and Del Cesar were reelected.
The board reorganization was postponed until its meeting on June 27, when a new director will be appointed to fill the term of former director Derek Duncan. Duncan resigned from the board in order to become Goldbelt's new vice president of operations.
Duncan replaces Bob Martin Jr., who retires at the end of the month.
