Posted: Friday, June 04, 2004

Kids will discover new trails to books at the public library this summer. Beginning June 5 and running through Aug. 7, the Summer Reading Program offers kids a diversity of activities at all three public libraries.

•Discover the Magic School Bus Party at 10 a.m. June 5 at the downtown library. Join in the fun with craft activities, skits and food.

• Discover a chance to enter the drawing for prizes each time items are borrowed from the libraries. Winners will be drawn every Tuesday for one of the prizes donated by local businesses.

• Discover the reading game. A child may read alone or be read to. Record the time spent reading each day on your game card and receive prizes.

• Discover storytimes with crafts from 11 a.m. to noon at all three libraries - Wednesdays at the downtown library, Thursdays at the Douglas library and Fridays at the Valley library.

• Discover toddler times for newborns to 3-year-olds and their adult partners. These will take place 10 a.m. Mondays at the downtown library and at 11 a.m. at the Valley library.

• Discover the "I Love to Read" Chapter Book Clubs for second- to fifth-graders beginning at 7 p.m. June 17 at the downtown library.
