The Juneau Symphony will present their annual pops concert on June 13 at the Juneau-Douglas High School auditorium. The concert will include music by American composers George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Lerner and Loewe and Irving Berlin. This is the last performance of the season for the symphony.
This year's guest artist will be local pianist Sue Kazama. Kazama has been a music teacher and accompanist in Juneau for over 30 years. She has played piano for nearly every arts organization in town but this is her first appearance as the syphon guest artist. She will perform the piano solo for the piece "I Got Rhythm" by George Gershwin.
Tickets are $20 for general admission and $15 for students and seniors. They are available at Hearthside Books, the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council, and the symphony office. They are also available at the door for $2 more.
The 2009-2010 season is scheduled to begin on Oct. 17 and 18, and ticket sales will begin Aug. 1.
