JDHS baccalaureate ceremony set
Baccalaureate for the Juneau Douglas High School Seniors will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, in the Juneau-Douglas High School auditorium. 2002 JDHS graduates, their friends and families, are invited to attend. Seniors need to meet in the auxiliary gym at 7 p.m. with cap and gown. Seniors also are asked to bring a plate of cookies or fruit for the reception in the Commons which will follow Baccalaureate. Items needed for annual garage sale
Perseverance Theatre is currently accepting donations of your neglected treasures for its second annual Great Alaskan Garage Sale.
Donations may be dropped off at the Theatre from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Friday through June 7. Larger items can be picked up on request. The garage sale will be held Saturday June 8, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Theatre in Douglas. For more information, please call 364-2421 ext. 42.
Native program to hold classes
The Juneau Indian Studies program is offering a FREE summer program in June for grades 2-8. Beach and forest discovery, weaving and more will be offered. Registration forms are at main offices of each school, or call 463-1700 x310.
Celebration 2002 parade scheduled
On Thursday, the Celebration 2002 Grand Entrance Parade will begin at 8 a.m. at the Alaska Native Brotherhood Hall on Willoughby Avenue. The parade will proceed along the following route:
Willoughby Avenue from ANB Hall to Centennial Hall.
Streets and parking lots that will be closed to vehicular traffic include the following: Whittier Street at Willoughby Avenue, Village Street at Willoughby Avenue, Willoughby Avenue at Egan Drive, and all the parking lot entrances and exits onto Willoughby Avenue from the State Office Building, D.E.C. Building, and the 400 Willoughby Building.
The parade is expected to last until 9:45 a.m.
